Random Thanks To's and Thank You's

Our  future front yard decoration has a name!!! Dendrite... ya but it's art and Mona Lisa isn't really the super-mega-lightning name of the art world either. It was created and installed by Cleveland artist Olga Ziemska and is brought to you by the wonderful people at Land Studio. They're the group who've brought you most of the recent public art installments and project in Cleveland. They're in the business of making this old rust belt city a little less... able to actually give you tetanus. It goes to show you what happens when the art people run the projects... or at least have a equal say from the beginning. Thank you Land Studio!

Oh and just in case you were curious (Gina), according to Land's website:
...the piece was inspired by the street names of Professor, Literary, University and College, which are vestiges of the neighborhood’s days as a college town. She began thinking about creating a public sculpture and a public space for contemplation, observation and interaction for the Tremont community—much like what the space of a university provides for its students and surrounding community.
Walnut Wednesday's are back! Thanks to the great people at the Downtown Cleveland Alliance downtown workers can enjoy fresh air, music, beautiful Perk Park (also brought to you by Land Studio), and delicious food served from food trucks. Gina and I visited Perk Park after last year's Asian festival and it really was an amazing oasis of relaxation and color in the middle of the grays of downtown. I'm all about getting people on the street so for me, this is great news! It looks like I'm going to need to start working from the Higbee building on Wednesdays starting on 5/7 so I can partake!... and then Thursdays starting 6/5 for Lunch by the Lake.

Uber launches its app-driven transportation service in Cleveland today!... or a few days ago. Anyways, we can be a little less jealous of other big cities and the cool things they have that we don't. Thanks to Uber you can now hail a cab in Cleveland with an app on your phone. Uber is the latest to recognize all of the good that has been happening in Cleveland and northeast Ohio. They also see the money making potential of big events on the horizon like the Gay Games, a possible Republican National Convention in 2016, and I mean how long are we going to really have to wait before we get a Wrestlemania here??? 1 or 2 more years? Seriously! It's always great to get some validation for the good things happening around here, so I'll take this one. Plus it'll come in handy when I need a ride home from the Strip Cl... bar. A ride home from the bar.
