Back in the swing of things

6/5/2015 - The Velodrome
Did you know that Cleveland had a Velodrome? Let me back up...do you know what a velodrome is? It's kind of an awesome word that conjurers up images of Cobra's headquarters which was called the "Terror Drome" but they are obviously different...just in case they aren't though, stand by Joe's. The Velodrome is an arena for track cycling and looks like a NASCAR track for bikes. The track is steeply banked on the short ends with straights on the long ends. Ours is an outdoor track with some seating but some are indoors in an arena type setting like Cleveland Public Auditorium which hosted many indoor velodrome races in the 20's and 30's.

Now that you know what it is, I bet you didn't know we had one? Smack dab in the middle of Slavic Village (By law when someone says Slavic Village they are also to mention that it was ground zero of the housing bubble) which was ground zero of the housing bubble. From the track's infield it doesn't look like it is where it is. You can see clusters of nice green trees just over the banked track. You see building tops but not enough to know if they're clustered low income apartments or just completely abandoned. Every couple of blocks along Broadway you see the good bones of neighborhood place-making starting to come together. Artistic metal arches over the street and other art installments dot the landscape. A few well preserved old buildings from the area's ethnic past sit as reminders of the good old days. Gems like the Velodrome and the Morgana Run trail show proof of some interest in the area but sadly nothing close to what it truly needs.

Cleveland needs that neighborhood that is the "Cyclist's Paradise" and for some reason the Slavic Village brass isn't getting this big oval slap in the face! I'm talking protected bike lanes everywhere, bike shops, indoor/outdoor bike park, an annual road race, bike manufacturing companies...THE WORKS!...Nope. Nuthin. Boy if I had a million dollars right?!?

Watching races at the Velodrome was fun! I paid my $5 for infield access, a hot dog, and a beverage. Not too shabby. I also donated some to the cause because I just love having this in the city. My friend and co-worker Melanie was volunteering at the food booth so I got the scoop on Velodrome cycle racing from her:

First, the bikes they use to race don't coast. The wheels and the pedals are fixed together so you have to slow down your legs in order to slow down the bike to a stop. Now for me this might be a stumbling point since I cruise through life, hold down the clutch and cruise, and look for the steep hills to bike on so I don't have to pedal...not with this bike. Oh and it also makes starting a race very interesting as they have to hold on to the rail at the top of one of the straight banks until the gun goes off to start. "And there's the starting gun and Vozar goes face first down the ramp and into the infield. Get that guy a hot dog and some gauze!"

Second, the bikes have clip on shoe/pedals thingies. I knew this but have never seen them in person before. I've also heard of people not being able to detach in time and just randomly falling to the ground at stop lights. Now that's comedy! So you can't coast AND you're clipped in??? Have you ever seen me walk? Ya, I'm one deep thought away from tripping over myself into a face smash. Sometimes you can hear me faintly saying "left foot. right foot. heel. toe. heel. toe" when I walk. I mean I'm not scared but I can see why the helmets are necessary!...and face masks...and mouth guards. Amen.

Thirdly, follow the lines on the track. Don't go getting all ballsy and drift towards the top of the high banks during a race where you really shouldn't as you then become a go fast battering ram, if you're not careful. There's a passing rule too but I'm not sure if I remember it or if it's only in certain races. Either way look for me in the blue area 99.99% of the time when I sign up for my free beginner's course later this summer.

Fourthly and most importantly, spandex. Everywhere. If you want to see pressed down boobs and bulgy junk, this is the place for you!...and you can kill 2 birds with one stone looking at me in one of those getups! Ha! I'll stick with shorts and a t-shirt until I need to shave some seconds off my lap time. Don't let that stop anyone else though. Get your Lycra on ladies.

6/5/2015 - Indians 2 - Orioles 5
A few posts ago I wrote about a cheap but fun night out in Cleveland that included a Tribe game, $1 Dog and Soda night, and fireworks. Well I took my own advice and went to that game and who did we happen to come across? The McCoy clan there for a pre-wedding party of some kind. It was great to see them and shoot the $hit for a bit. We ate hot dogs, drank beer, and had a heck of a time watching some baseball. The "hipster approved classic rock fireworks" were pretty great although I don't know why they were "hipster approved"? I didn't hear one song by The Clash, The Ramones, Lou Reed, or Mudhoney... any hipster rock bands I missed? We lost but who really cared when you had friends there like this.

6/7/2015 - Louis Anderson at Hilarities
Say what you want about what you've heard about Louis Anderson but the man is still funny after all these years and a stint on family feud. Gina, myself, and Eli went to Hilarities to check him out with of course free tickets. I swear I've been there about 7-8 times since moving here and have had to pay for tickets once and just that first time. I don't ever see crap acts either. They've all been pretty top notch. Keep filling out those cards and you keep going back. I guess it's only a great deal if you live in the area...so move to the area right?! It's a great night on the town at East 4th no matter what you go there to do but everyone should know that by now.

Louis was funny, topical, local, and on point even when a drunk old lady piped up about it being her and her husband's 50th anniversary or some $hit. He gently took the time to calm her down verbally and when this selfish attention hog finally shut up, he moved right back into the funny. A true professional and definitely worth seeing.

6/7/2015 - NBA Finals Game 2 Watch Party at the Q
So to end our fun whirlwind day of grad parties and comedy shows Gina, Eli, and I headed over to the Q to watch the Cavs in the finals...on the jumbo-mega-fire shooting-sword wielding-supertron! It was the finals so we paid $5 to get in but I have to tell you that it was totally worth it. The place was packed! Like more packed than a "mid-season game against the Hornets" packed. Everyone was pumped and the energy was high the whole time. I guess it had to do with the fact that for $5 us normal people could afford to actually go to a finals game. True blue collar fans and not people who just go to see Usher sing the national anthem and be seen. And the Cavs won! Hopefully we'll have at least 1 more chance to go and celebrate a champ... champi... I can't even say it. I actually don't know how. I haven't been a part of or cheered for a team that brings home a trophy...well except for Texas but it's different when it's the home team. Cross your finger. Knock on wood. Turn the light switch on and off 5 times. Whew.

Congrats to my graduating relatives Tianna, Austin, and Allison and to all the grads out there. I say that knowing that kids I babysat and watched grow up are now embarking on their real lives. It makes me feel old and proud at the same time. As they spread their wings and leave the nest and all that stuff, the world is much different now than when I did the same so my words of wisdom may feel a bit like me telling you that I used to wear jean shorts and gas was $1.50 BUT a universal truth in all of this is that your next 10 years are going to be the best and the worst all at the same time. Make memories you will be proud to tell your kids about and minimize the mistakes you'll for sure make. I make it well known that my time after high school was wasted figuring out who I was past what Louisville had made me and trying to throw off the shackles of small town thinking and fear. Not until I was 30 did I truly become who I am and most importantly...who I'm proud to be. Be proud to be an urban explorer or whatever dreams you may not even know about yet. Have a goal past marriage and family and do everything you can to achieve that. There's too much to life for you to even know what you want at this point but this is the prime time to discover that. Love what you do everyday and love yourself. Good luck!

Cheap Fun Time Alert!

Want a cheap night out that's sure to be fun??? Well I got one for ya. On June 5th at 7:10 pm the Indians are playing the Orioles and you can get $10 tickets in the upper bleachers. I believe that's standard when it's fireworks night. Sure you have to get out of your seats after the game and before the fireworks but if you've seen the crowds at Tribe games recently, you'll know that you should have no problem finding an open seat in an area where the fireworks can be easily viewed. (I mean com'on people! Get out to a ballgame!) Plus...they're fireworks and everyone loves those! OK, still sounds lame and not worth it? How about it's not only dollar soda night...wait for it... but it's dollar dog night too! That means you and a friend can get tickets, 6 hot dogs, 4 sodas, and watch fireworks for...

Total Convenience Fee for (2) Tickets:$4.00
Price for (2) Tickets:$20.00
Processing Fee:$3.35
Price for (6) Hot Dogs:$6.00
Price for (6) Sodas:$6.00
==================================
Total:$39.35

"But Sam, what about Parking? Isn't that like $20?!?!"

Yes, person in my head, it is -- BUT I'm going to help you out. Ready????

Option 1: Live here and walk to the game! It's just that easy.

Option 2: Take the Rapid to Tower City - $2.25 each way

Option 3: Park for Free -
  1. Leave your house about an hour earlier than normal. You're going to want to take pictures and see the new areas in the Stadium. Plus the Indians crowd knows this trick so you have beat them to it!
  2. From 77 N once you get close to Downtown, take exit 163 to East 14th St. Usually you'll take the right lane around to East 9th but go middle lane straight on to East 14th.
  3. Follow East 14th Street through the light until it ends at East 9th Street Extension.
  4. Turn Right on East 9th Street Extension.
  5. Follow it by taking a sharp left.
  6. Turn right onto Commercial Road. This will take you under the new I90 bridge where there are 2 free parking lots that are right across the street from Progressive Field!
Um, holy crap are you welcome!
I'm not going to account for fuel because that's your cross to bare in life depending on what you drive. That being said, for under $40 you can spend a summer Friday night watching professional sports, eating processed food, drinking sugary soda, and watching explosions.

1st off - 'Merica.

Secondly - You and your guest get a whole bag full of awesomeness for the price of 1 mediocre ticket to any other sporting event in town!

Now what you go do after the fireworks are over (gamble at the Horseshoe) is up to you. I'm sure that since you made your way to the big city at least 1.6% of you will want to do something afterwards. For you I say, go out and enjoy urban adventurers!!!

5/9/2015 - RiverSweep was last weekend and our neighborhood volunteered in record numbers to help clean up garbage on the streets. You'd be amazed how much crap gets thrown about or blown out of trash cans. The epic number of tires we pick up every year is just mind blowing. A company or 2 in this area that recycles tires into something like playground mulch or creates retread tires would make a pretty penny in my opinion. Anyways, the neighborhood got a good cleaning and never looked better. This is the kind of project that I love to be a part of. Take a few hours and really hit the streets to make our neighborhood a better place. I'm proud of everyone that participated and of where I live!

If you're a Tremont West voting member, don't forget to:

#SaveAVoteforSam

on May 28th at 6 pm at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church here in beautiful Tremont for the Tremont West Board of Directors!

Here is my short statement for voters to consider:

"I’m your average citizen that loves Tremont and Cleveland. I’m not rich or famous. I have a regular job and rent an apartment. I believe Tremont is the best neighborhood in Cleveland and should be used as a template for success in other places. I want residents and visitors to always feel safe here. I want to see less litter and fewer pot holes. I want to send my future children to good schools. I want my money to stay in the community through thriving local businesses and worthwhile neighborhood improvements. I want art, color, festivals, 4-star food, full storefronts, feet on the sidewalks, and bikes on the road. I believe these are the same things the majority of residents in Tremont want…We don’t want the progress to stop or even slowdown in any way. I know I can properly represent the members of Tremont West and people of Tremont in my thoughts and decisions on this Board. Let’s continue to bring everyone up and keep this neighborhood the best in Cleveland."

Trains, Dyngus Day, and Sports

3/28/2015 - CVSR Train Ride with Breakfast

Gina got me a secret (everything lately has been secret) Train ride on the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad for Valentine's Day!...which we missed because we were late. BUT Gina was able to "sweet talk" (which I'm sure is code for threaten) the customer service lady into moving our train tickets and breakfast to March. I love trains so I don't really care how many small children Gina had to dangle off buildings in order to get this done. She has her ways and I just go along for the ride! See what I did there?

This is a must do for anyone whether you're a fan of trains or not! It's so relaxing and the scenery is amazing. The trains are nice and comfy but a bit drafty so if you go during the winter you may need to keep your coat on. Oh and definitely pick the east side of the train to look out of. The west side just isn't as scenic. The breakfast, which you would have thought was going to be the let down, was actually very good! Everything about this made me smile and because we had so much fun, Gina and I are planning on riding to Akron to get dinner at Luigi's and then riding home...if the schedules allows.

4/2/2015 - Progressive Field Sneak Peek

Through work (which in no way approves of, acknowledges, or agrees/disagrees with anything having to do with this blog) I was able to get a sneak peek at the new changes to Progressive field and more importantly a free lunch. These changes included new corporate branding that is in no way awkwardly placed, opening up the northeast entrance so we could get a better view of the 9's parking garage, an expanded kids area that's strategically right next to a new bar, a new statue because the old one was (in some way that I don't understand) racist, and container storage in the right field upper deck for the players to store their belongings until they are able to move in. At least I think that's what everything is for. I'm not sure because...did I mention we got free food!?!

All kidding aside, I don't mind the changes that were made to Jacob's Progressive field. I love going there to watch games and I love the Indians. Plus it's a hell of a lot better than building a brand new stadium with public funds for a team that hasn't won a world series in 67 years and is run by billionaires. Thanks for the vote of confidence Sports Illustrated but maybe you should wait until May 1st before you curse an already cursed team. I hear John Maddens's putting Jerry Sands on the cover of this year's video game too. God I wish someone read this blog...I'm freaking hilarious sometimes.

4/6/2015 - Dyngus Day

Oh Dyngus Day! I really do love this holiday. This year Aunt Fran was tooling around somewhere down south with Uncle Stan and the weather wasn't even close to the awesome sunny heat that we had last year. Even though it may have cramped our style a bit, it didn't stop us from going out to have some Polish fun around Tremont.

I finally got Gina into Sokolowski's for some delicious Polish food and live polka music. Since Sokolowski's is as Cleveland as the Indians, I won't go into great detail because most of you already know how awesome the food is whether you've been here or not. I will say that our meal didn't disappoint and was more of the same heaping helping, fill you up right, old world, tasty goodness that makes you wonder how much of it you can eat before your sides split open...and trust me, we walked that razor thin line. So much so that I had to buy some coco butter like I was pregnant. It's a shame I didn't know this place existed when I was a teen with endless metabolism!

We also got a chance to go to one of the Polish Veteran's Clubs and grab a few Polish drinks. The bar tenders were nice and the older patrons all had a story to tell. One of the older gentleman even had his eye on Gina but lucky for me he left his pills at home or I'd have been at risk for losing my best gal! Now we have to hit all the other ones in our neighborhood. You heard me. There are more than 1.

4/10/2015 - Opening Day - (L) Indians: 4       Tigers: 8

Opening Day was a great time even though we lost but in the future, unless I have tickets, this will probably be my last one. Why you ask? I'm 35 years old and it was never more obvious than when I was standing in a 2 X 2 inch square at the Thirsty Parrot watching the youth pour past me like a drunkin roaring rapid while me, the guy with the weave and spray tan, and someone who seriously could have been on-air talent for NPR (think turtleneck and tweed suit jacket) tried to look like we belonged. We did not. Girls have boobs -- so they belong anywhere. I was not physically prepared to be in this place and the intimidation showed on my face. I will gladly stick to my alley bars and fringe restaurants for next opening day and leave it to the youngins to party like rock stars. Good luck with that.

Marmalade is ready to rock...yes she has a name. I know...
That's about $400 worth of shoes right there. Ain't the the coolest?!?
Me and the Bobbsey Twins.
I talked with the guy in the back about his hip problem for 20 mins.
Yes, it's opening day!
I wish this picture was taken sideways and that the "C' wasn't cut off.

4/12/2015 - Our 1st Indians Game of 2015 - (L) Indians: 5       Tigers: 8

Before we went to our first game of 2015, we got brunch at Prosperity Social Club. This is one of our favorite places to go recently because of the atmosphere, service, and food. I guess those are the big 3 huh? Oh they're affordable too! This is a must must must go for brunch. Their dinner menu is great too but their brunch is...well let's just say we're taking people there now who spend the night or come up early on the weekends. We all ordered something different and everything was delicious. Salmon Cake Benedict...ya think about that one for a second. Yum! Bloody Mary's are good. Sides are great. You can't go wrong AND they have Saturday brunch as well. This was all the win we were going to get today however...

We got to the stadium and bought tickets in the cheap seats. I don't care what anyone says, there's not a bad seat in the house at Progressive field. We even got some sun in our face around the middle innings. If it wasn't for the drunkin angry Tiger fans (redundant, I know) who surrounded us chanting "We'all sweeped dem Injins", it would have been a perfect day. Love a good day at the ballpark.

We didn't get to see any of the new areas up close. I figure I'll wait until it's just me and Gina before I go off exploring. Everything looked great though from our seats! Even the PODS section in right field. Go Tribe!
I'm not sure who's trying to be who in this couple. What I do know is that it's creepy how similar these 2 are.
Way to show up Tribe Fans...

4/152015 - Cavs Game - (W) Cavs: 109       Pistons: 97

As if we didn't have enough sports this post, I bought us Cavs tickets too! I mean come on. I needed to attend a win or I was going to think it was me (more than likely Gina) who was bring Cleveland teams bad luck. Well we won thanks to J.R. Smith hitting 3's from everywhere and anywhere and Lebron even played! He messed around and got a triple-double. We got some hot dogs and cheered them our way. I have to say, today was a good day. I'm holding out hope that work gets one more ticket deal for the playoffs or I'll be watching them from home unfortunately. This is where I'll end it to avoid jinxing anything...

Until next time Urban Pioneers!

4th of July Week Part 2

More fireworks! I'll pretty much go anywhere it seems if they promise to show me loud exploding balls of light. That explains why I took a trip down ole memory lane with Gina and my rents to go watch fireworks on beautiful Atwood Lake... in the middle of what felt like Alaska in January! And if Alaska is somehow warm in January... I'm stupid but you get my point. It was freeeeezing! The day started out decently temperaturized which is par for this summer's shitty weather so far. At least it wasn't raining. After Gina got home from work and we went to pick up my rental's new dryer from North Canton, we met at my parent's place, condensed cars, and headed down the twisty road to Atwood.

Here's ole sour patch face and grumpy Bahama cat enjoying the 45 degree temps with the wind out on the lake. I complain but it wasn't that bad after you wrapped up in towels to keep warm. It was also great to spend time with my parents and reminisce about the days of my youth when I ruled over the one person kingdom which was Atwood. Luckily for me Gina didn't mind hearing most of the stories again... or she just didn't pay attention to me when I told them to her the first time. Either way they made the trip around the lake go pretty fast.

The fireworks were not as great as I remember them unfortunately but it didn't make the night any less fun. I guess I've been spoiled by Lakewood's display that will (if you let it) knock your socks off. We got a great spot... if the fireworks were wear they were in 1994. They changed the location on us! We could still see them but we were much less willing to navigate the lake once it got dark in order to get a better view. Boats have like 3 tiny dirty lights on the and are almost impossible to see once the sun goes  down. Remember that young adventurous kids...

Gina's cousin Kerry's birthday was Saturday! She's the same age as us (you're welcome) and was looking for a fun night out and about in our little slice of Cleve-town. Of course Gina and I used this opportunity to A) do knew things and B) eat new things. So to accomplish both of those and get the most bang for all of our bucks, we made reservations for Lago on the East Bank of the Flats in the new E&Y Tower. Oh and for the gift we finally... FINALLY made it over to Tremont's own Lilly Homemade Chocolates. Foodies, this is going to be right up your alley.
People who don't even know where Tremont is know what Lilly's is and they can hardly get the praise out of their mouths without drifting into a drooling daydream. Needless to say I was ready to be amazed and to gain an uncontrollable 6-8 lbs. The first thing you notice when you walk in is that the place is packed full of craft beer and interesting looking chocolates. They really made it easy to pair the 2 and put together a box of delicious goodies. The staff was super helpful and willing to walk us newb's through the whole process. We got a variety box for Kerry and a chocolate bar for us with 2 bottles of paired beers. Spoiler alert... they were amazing and the beer matched and complimented the flavors perfectly! Lilly's deserves all the hype and more. This is definitely my new gift spot.
The East Bank is currently under construction building phase 2 of their project. We went from the parking lot right to the new E&Y Tower where the hotel and restaurants are located. The outdoor patio is the 1st thing you see and it's quite impressive! There are multiple seating options for groups of all sizes and there's even fireplace seating for these shitty cool Cleveland summer nights. We decided to eat inside but the front of Lago is pretty opened up.
The meals are quite pricey so be prepared but the food is definitely worth it. The portions are large and the seafood centric menu is quite diverse. The steak I got came out on a cutting board and was the size of a 2 year old child! It was delicious and obviously filling. The lobster gnocchis were excellent as well. The dessert was the 4 gold star winner of the night though. The tiramisu is smooth and the perfect combo of sweet and coffee flavors. It was by far the best I've ever had!
The kicker to this area was the clientele. It was a late 20's and early 30's paradise. Most everyone was dressed nicely and very good looking. Guys and girls. It is certainly a place to take a group of friends but if you're looking to head out for a singles night on the town, this is the place to get dinner! Of course I was already with the 2 prettiest girls in the place so all you guys will have to settle for 3rd place.

The end of our whirlwind 4th of July weekend involved us eating chocolate, drinking beer, and relaxing in front of the TV... but before that we went to the Indian's game with my parents! It was the father's day gift I got my dad last month. That morning they actually made awesome time and didn't get lost once!... So they got here about 2 hours early while Gina and I were trying to get the house in order. We pointed them in the direction of Press to go get some brunch and quickly got ready.
So my dad is certainly not a fan of Cleveland as many who read the paper and don't live here wouldn't be so walking the flats to the Jake was completely out of the question. Now I can understand that a desolate, under developed, and almost forgotten area like the Flats we walk through to get to the Jake would seem like a great place to catch a bullet but during the day it's more of the Scooby Doo ghost town that Mike Polk talks about in the 2nd Cleveland Tourism video on YouTube. Irregardless, we drove... but I made him pay for it.
The day went from overcast and jacket worthy to beautiful and sunny at about the 3rd inning. We had pretty amazing seats courtesy of work and got to enjoy an Indian's win. I never realized how much I like watching a game with my Dad. He and I talk and watch the perfect amount to make a game go fast while still getting to enjoy it. The time flew by and before I knew it or got bored... it was 2 outs in the bottom of the 9th. It's been awhile since I went to a ball game with my either of my parents so it was great to do it again. Hopefully this is the 1st of many more to come. It's actually the first of 3 trips I'm making to the Jake for Indian's games this week. It sorta just worked out that way but I'm a super fan this week! Go Tribe!
On the way back to the car I decided to show off Cleveland a bit and walked my parents and Gina past the new GE Chandelier. I really think everyone should see it once in their life because it is such an awesome sight to behold. That whole Playhouse Square area is really impressive and other than a few street level vacancies, is almost a complete and total urban neighborhood and something that the other up and coming areas downtown should model themselves after. Transportation, residential, business, entertainment, walk-ability, trendy, and touristy all at the same time. Quite an impressive feat!

Indians vs Angles - Swisher Sweet

6/19/2014 - Cleveland Indians vs LA Angels

My work (which in no way shares in or promotes my opinions on this blog) gave employees a $25 ticket (which included a $5 voucher) to an Indians game last week. The tickets were in the left field bleachers but it's early in the baseball season still which means that there are lots of good seats and standing areas to move to to watch the game... you know, if you do that sorta stuff... I for sure do not!... probably.

My co-worker Eli met me at my place and we hiked the 15 mins through the flats to Jacob... Progressive field to watch the game. It was a great day for baseball! The temp was in the 80's and early rain had cleared out most of the humidity. Hot in the sun and cool in the shade. The perfect weather for getting paid to be at the ballpark!

The game for the most part was pretty par for the course. We paid attention as long as we could and then went to eat and roam around. I decided to not eat lunch beforehand so that I could partake in some ballpark hot dogs. With my $5 food voucher it seemed like a great idea to get 3! After eating we camped out on the Home Run porch in left to watch a few innings. I do love watching the Indians live. I grew up going to some great games in this ballpark and feel some sort of connection to it and comfort with it. I haven't been to too many games over the past few years because it's just so damn expensive. Thank goodness work gives us discounted tickets to sporting events sometimes because it has allowed me become a fan again. It's definitely one of the perks to working for a hometown employer that advertises!

Snuck down while the security guy was taking a dump. Great view!

I'll cut to the chase on this one since I'm writing about a baseball game... The Indians were down by a run in the bottom of the 10th. The bases were loaded and there were 2 outs. Nick Swisher was up and was 0-4 for the day. Now I'll digress a bit but only to add my own little bit of sports magic to the story... Before we left, Gina asked me to pick her up a jersey since "your sister lost a bunch of weight and can fit into the one she gave me again so I had to give it back." Indian giver of an Indian's jersey... yup. So while wandering around about mid game, I stopped into the women's pink ribbon tight-fitting bedazzled gift shop. After coming to the conclusion that whatever I get Gina she wouldn't like but would pretend to, I got her a Nick Swisher jersey/shirt thingy. I think women think he's hot and she usually likes guys that all women think are hot so I went with it... now fast forward back to us sitting in way better seats than what we started out with and Swisher at bat. Now watch the video to see what I made happen with my purchase:

I've never seen a walk off grand slam in person before this but I have to tell you... it was awesome! I haven't really cheered that hard and loud in that stadium in some time. It was a good feeling. It was great high 5'ing strangers and Whhhoooooing as loud as I could. It was great to see him getting mobbed at home plate. It's nice to feel anything positive about Cleveland sports these days. I have to say that one of the great perks to living in Cleveland has been being able to easily get to these things. Oh and not having to leave early to beat traffic... I'd have missed this little gem if I did.

My next great sports adventure will be on Thursday (6/26) when Gina and I go to the Cavs draft party at the Q! You can't beat free tickets... that should be my catch phrase. I say it enough. Oh and if you wanted proof of my sports magic...
You get'em girl!
